The Foreword To "Voluntary Theocracy: Divine Economy Theory"

Foreword for Voluntary Theocracy

There is something about the virtues that make them essential for predictable success in whatever human beings undertake. Predictable success is valuable because chance or an underlying order that is unknown to us may be operating as well. This is true whether or not what we are undertaking is a worthy endeavour. We even need the virtues to be predictably successful when engaged in doing the “wrong” thing. Imagine a thief that lacks determination. At the first obstacle the thief would abandon the enterprise. A gang cannot exist without loyalty; any form of betrayal is likely to end its collective nature.

It is not surprising then that virtues are central to the human enterprise. When asked “What is the purpose of our lives?” 'Abdu'l-Bahá, the son of the Founder of the Bahá’i Faith responded, ”To acquire virtues.” What is surprising is that for so long, contemporary economics have relegated virtues to buzz words like “trust in the institutions” and “consumer confidence” without the spiritual basis required to re-establish trust once it is broken or rebuild confidence once it is lost. Bruce Koerber in Part One and Part Two of Voluntary Theocracy places the virtues where they belong: at the heart of all of our interactions.

If this had been all that he did, his work would be commendable and worthy of our attention. However, Bruce Koerber has done much more. In Part Three and Part Four of Voluntary Theocracy he lays out the principles underlying what he refers to as the Divine Economy. For all Religious traditions it has been central to our purpose here, to come to know and love the Divine Order and the One who created it. "I want to know God's thoughts; the rest are details.", (attributed to Albert Einstein), is an acknowledgement that there is an underlying order in the world in which we live. It is the goal of science to uncover that order and to make it accessible and understandable. It is in that spirit that Bruce Koerber’s Divine Economy is an unfolding scientific endeavour.

Not only is there an underlying order within creation but also a goal, a direction — to carry forward an ever advancing civilization. Each created being has a part to play in that unfolding plan. Each human being is born into potential with that potential, when realized, enabling us to play a unique part in a Divine Plan encompassing all humanity. As we play our parts, each of us is meant to benefit ourselves and those we interact with: sounds a lot like an economy, which it is. As Bruce Koerber aptly points out in Voluntary Theocracy, being productive benefits not just ourselves but also that increased productivity benefits us all.

It is the spiritual purpose of society to create cultures and systems (education, markets, etc.) that allow each and every one of us to discover our unique parts in that Divine Plan; develop the potentials that enable us to play our parts; and provide for the opportunities that allow each to make a unique contribution to the whole and be acknowledged for doing so. This would be a challenge for any society. This challenge is made more difficult if we ignore the signs and fail to read clearly the spirit of the Age in which we live.

Because of the underlying unity of the human enterprise we err if we artificially separate any part from the whole. We make this error if we separate people into classes, races, tribes, nations or any other artificial division. If we treat the cultural, educational or economic systems as separate entities governed by different principles we make such a mistake. Because of humanity’s spiritual nature, when we treat religion as unimportant or fail to integrate its guidance, we make another mistake. When we separate Religion from Science we make a similar error. Rare for a scientist, Bruce Koerber recognizes the unity of the human enterprise and avoids these mistakes.

Even rarer is Bruce Koerber’s realization that the greatest of our potentials, our birthright and greatest asset is our potential to acquire the Divine Virtues and Spiritual Qualities. As we develop our potentials we develop the Virtues. As we play our respective parts in the Divine Plan and participate in the Divine Economy that is its result we are given opportunities to further develop the Virtues. As we act on the Virtues we have developed we will carry forward the Divine Plan for the benefit of all creation.

As Lao Tzu so eloquently said in the Tao Te Ching {The Canon of Reason and Virtue}:

His vigour will make true;
And where the family it rules
What riches will accrue!
The neighbourhood where it prevails
In thriving will abound;
And when 'tis seen throughout the state, Good fortune will be found.
Employ it the kingdom o'er,
And men thrive all around.”

Developing The Ethic Of Trust In God.

The future is uncertain and the human mind cannot and will never be able to overcome that part of our reality. Trust in God is an important ethic that needs to develop in humankind.

All ego-driven intervention and all ego-driven interpretation are error-based because of the finite nature of human knowledge.

The true understanding of laissez-faire economics is what the divine economy theory teaches. Humans are created in the Image of God and as they act and as they discover more about their own reality as a result of their actions the grace of God suffices them with providence. The struggle for humans in this transition period is trusting in God versus trusting that the ego-driven can bring about order.

Divine Economy Theory Unleashes The Power Of Science And Religion.

Complexity is not a necessary condition for science nor is it a necessary condition for religion. When these two powerful tools of discernment - science and religion - can be brought into agreement and when simplicity binds them together there is the tremendous potential that most of humanity will be able to acquire knowledge to a high degree.

The human spirit is such an incredibly potent force. Consider how great is the future when it can exhibit its full range of potentialities.

Divine economy theory is an astounding tool enabling people to combine these two powerful tools of discernment: science and religion.

Murray Rothbard Puts It In Perspective!

Read this excerpt from and interview of Murray Rothbard for the Austrian Economics Newsletter.
AEN: You have apparently taken an interest in religion as it affects the history of thought.
MNR: Religion was dominant in the history of thought at least through Marshall. The Scholastics emerged out of Catholic doctrine. And John Locke was a Protestant Scholastic. I am convinced that Smith, who came from a Calvinist tradition, skewed the whole theory of value by emphasizing labor pain, typical of a Puritan. The whole objective cost tradition grew out of that.

AEN: Why has all this been overlooked?

MNR: Because the 20th century is the century of atheistic, secularist intellectuals. When I was growing up, anyone who was religious was considered slightly wacky or even unintelligent. That was the basic attitude of all intellectuals. This is the opposite of earlier centuries' attitudes when everyone was religious.

The anti-religious bias even shows up in the interpretations of the history of art, for example, in the secularist and positivist interpretation of Renaissance painting. When Jesus is painted as a real person, they assume that means it is a secular work, whereas the real point of the Renaissance was to emphasize the Incarnation, when God became flesh. Even if art historians aren't interested in theology, they should realize that the people they study were. The same is true for economics. In doing history, you cannot read your own values into the past.

Not All Religious People Struggle With Economics!

I enjoyed very much reading this article by Jeffrey Tucker. Pondering questions of significance and importance can never be thought of as unbecoming of the Mises blog.

Part of the fascination for me in the article was the glimpses into the logic of a well-trained Austrian economist and also seeing the expression of what is considered to be the higher values, to the author. The way it was weaved together and unfolded serves as a good example for all of us. Ours is the task to solve difficult problems using logic, appealing to reason, and earning the trust of those who we are guiding to the unparalleled beauty of laissez-faire, or may I say even more accurately - the divine economy.

Prejudice Does The Same Thing As Interventionism.

Religious prejudice rears its ugly head most often in two ways among Austrian economists. First of all, I am not saying that there are not Austrian economists who do not have religious prejudices.

Wertfrei is a convenient curtain to hide behind. It has been mistakenly used to justify atheism. The methodology of atheism is passed off as 'scientific.' The individuals who approach economic science in this manner have one type of religious prejudice - contempt for all religions.

The other religious prejudice is not regarded as part of economic science even though some may even lean in that direction since religious history is intertwined with economic history. It is really just a specific type of ethnocentricity, passed off as a necessary part of a religious conviction. Not all adherents of religion are locked into an ethnocentric viewpoint but many are and those individuals who are exhibit religious prejudice.

Prejudice of all kinds interferes with the flow of information in society and in human civilization. In that regard it acts in much the same way as interventionism!

The Bad Fruits Of Economics And Religion.

Those who criticize Islam forget that ego-driven interpretation is a destructive force just like ego-driven interventionism is a destructive force. Why are there not the good fruits of Islam prominent everywhere is the same question as "Why are there not the good fruits of laissez-faire prominent everywhere?"

So just as economists who know that the gems of laissez-faire can be discovered despite ego-driven interventionism so too can they also find the gems of Islam despite the destructiveness of ego-driven interpretation.

Of course if the exploration is preceded by indoctrination in neoclassical positivism or Keynesian nonsense then it may be well nigh impossible for that economist to discover the merits of laissez-faire. Likewise if the economist who tries to explore the merits of Islam begins under the indoctrination that has been foisted upon most of us by the ego-driven interpretations of the opponents of Islam then that pursuit will end in rejection also.

One of the great similarities between religion and economics is that both have been attacked and perverted by the ego-driven. Our job it to understand this and not to be fooled by these foolish ones.

How Can The Oppressed Find Ethical Government?

It is probably true that the regions of the world which have little philosophical connection to the Western civilization will not be able to readily adopt the principles of classical liberalism without another link to their culture. Religion is one such link.

And so religion will play a major role in the transition from these Dark Ages of economics to the bright future of a peaceful, prosperous, world culture and civilization composed of various classical liberalism societies. Divine economy theory is extremely helpful in this regard!

Religion Plays A Role In A Voluntary Society.

A voluntary society can work in many ways. The question becomes: What form of social cooperation will people voluntarily choose and why? What can bind people together almost universally within a society? No amount of science without an understanding of religion can provide that impetus. A chalkboard version of a voluntary society can be made more realistic by recognizing that humans are spiritual beings in addition to being physical and intellectual beings.

Chinese Culture Will Change Too!

The speaker, Martin Jacques, has an exagerated belief in the virtue of democracy, not just in political terms. He assumes that what will drive the culture in the future is the relative size of the population. This is also incorporated in his assumption of the importance of the Chinese concept of race that he described.

At the end he sums it all up by saying that all of these trends should be of interest to us 'humanists.' To an ear not alert to the particulars of the information that he shared this statement may just go in one ear and out the other.

The speaker does miss the significance of the 'touch of the finger of God' in the evolution of human civilization even though he does mention that Confucius was indispensable to the Chinese culture. His linear analysis which includes the materialistic empiricism of the 'Goldman Sachs' data is just as blind as the narrow and uninformed view of the West towards other cultures.

Humans are not robotic and are subject to inspiration and the same is true for human civilization because human civilization is always directly or indirectly inspired by the appearance of a Manifestation of God.

Ambitious Materialistic Politicians!

The contagion in this era of materialism - which can also be described as the Dark Ages of economics - is the strange combination of ego-driven interpretation and ego-driven interventionism. Vain imaginings taint the perception of reality in the minds and hearts of the ego-driven, not only in their ambitions of who to become but also in what to do along the way.

We Are Living In The Dark Ages Of Economic Science And Religion!

Ego-driven interventionism and ego-driven interpretation operate contrary to the flow of knowledge that sustains and supports the unhampered free market economy - which is the jewel of classical liberalism. Every time they appear it causes war and ignorance and economic terrorism and these are the growing media of the State.

Ego-Driven Interpreters and Interventionists Exhibit Lower Human Nature.

As we move forward all understandings become more refined. Ego-driven interpretation and ego-driven intervention are not in the same category as the life impulse. Humans exhibit a dual nature and it is true that the lower nature is still connected to the ego, not as a life impulse but as a corruptible self. One of the depravities of these Dark Ages of economics is the general ignorance about this human dual nature and the subsequent absence of measures taken to control the manifestations of this lower nature.

Human action as the life impulse nobly can be an expression of the higher nature, simply subjective and based upon one's knowledge, and since it is of the higher nature it aspires towards more knowledge which then affects the subjective decisions, and this process is a process of perfecting and advancing.

Can you see the difference between the higher and the lower? The higher nature is knowledge-seeking and perfecting whereas the lower nature is shallow and corruptible. All intervention into the economy is ego-driven (referring to the lower nature) and all ego-driven interpretation {interpretation that has no authority other than a selfish (lower nature) desire} is detrimental to the advancement of civilization.

Back to the ones who exclude the market: these are the ego-driven (interventionists and interpreters) who try to deprive humanity of its most universal language!

Subjective Identification Of Value.

According to the divine economy theory the origin of value has to do with the subjective identification of value!

Undeniably, a thing has value because someone subjectively values it. Also we know that a thing does not have value inherently, but rather, it is identified as valuable so long as it is deemed as such by at least one human being. In other words, economics only exists because humans exist.

The subjective identification of value is more than meets the eye! A thing is valuable because it is beautiful to someone, or because it makes someone feel more powerful, or because it satisfies someone's need for an everlasting quality. Subjectively we each determine what qualities attract our attention and cause us to take action to acquire things that reflect those qualities.

Subjectively we choose which attributes or names of God are most attractive to us. Those things that possess these qualities are valued by us and those things that possess more of these qualities are ranked higher than those that possess less of these qualities.

It is only befitting that the origin of all value is subjective since we have free will; and it is befitting that we are ultimately attracted to the names and attributes of God since we are "created in His Image."

Renewing Epistemology, Ontology, And Natural Law.

It seems that there either needs to be another class added (a fourth) which would fit for the example that uses Moses without changing His Station, or the 'divine encounter' class needs to be redefined in a way that makes a distinction between the human station and the station of a Manifestation of God.

This may mean re-examining things ontologically and expanding the classical ontological model to include the spiritual aspect of humans and it may mean re-examining natural law and expanding it to distinguish between the limits of the human reality and the limits of the Mainfestations of God.

The problem does not seem insurmountable. The problem of ego-driven interpretation that is solved by recognizing that there is no moral authority to intervene in the economy is no more (or less) challenging to resolve than is the problem of ego-driven interpretation in religion.

These can be used as primary or as supplementary textbooks and you will find that they also serve as a very valuable tool for homeschooling.

How else could an empiricist describe praxeology?

To an empiricist praxeology must seem like pure mysticism!

Now let's try to get the empiricist to accept subjectivism as a scientific method. We are trying to get these materialists to 'believe' in methodological individualism! Don't confuse them with the facts - if that means that the facts are in a deductive, logical, or theoretical form.

If the subjective methodology is beyond the comprehension of the empiricists and then labeled by them as a religion or unfathomable then it would probably be a good analogy, in return, to compare empiricism to physicalism if not depravity.

Statism Uses Ego-Driven Interpretation To Grow The State.

Although the State relies heavily on ego-driven interpreters it is driven mostly by ego-driven interventionists. Religion, on the other hand, has been riddled (literally) with ego-driven interpretation.

"Can it really be that simple?" Simple is something like: the Sun comes up and it is daytime. That which is ego-driven is hidden, hiding in the shadows. It is not simple; but we are fortunate to have minds that can go well beyond the simple.

It is not simple to find classical liberalism in the mud and muck of the indoctrination of the State. Nor is it simple to remove the veils that mask the religious prejudices promulgated by, on one end, and also created by the ego-driven interpreters, on the other.

"And, if Islam prevails you won't be able to stay out of the way." It is the corrupt combination of ego-driven interpretation of religion, and the State (ego-driven intervention to amass more power) that is bowling over societies and destroying societies. U.S. imperialism towing along anti-Islam is one example that is as clear as day to those who have recognized how the State uses religion (and the media and the education system, etc.) to serve its purposes.

The Ego-Driven Use Holy Days To Pervert Civilization!

Hark the herald . . .

Is there any mystery why the ego-driven interventionists thrust their spears into the hearts of the unsuspecting during this time of year?

Are these not the consequences of disregarding the spirit of alertness that is innate in us as humans? What vile things happen to those who act as fools and allow the ego-driven interventionists and the ego-driven interpreters to act as wolves in shepherd's clothing?

Alertness requires us to scorn the ego-driven interpreters. Then the discoveries that we make because we are alert (and freed from the interpretations of the ego-driven) clearly reveal that the ego-driven interventionists are satanic in nature, that is, ignorant and oppressive.

The opposite of what these charlatans are doing is the approximation of what is the true pattern for the divine civilization. Therefore refinement of classical liberalism is the correct pathway to follow.

Subjectivism Powerfully Illuminates New Territories!

'Ego-driven interventionism' is not a catch phrase. If someone is just beginning to encounter the classical liberalism literature and comes upon 'time preference' and because they do not quite grasp its meaning calls it a catch phrase, that is a misunderstanding. Likewise to some - and I grant this much - the term 'ego-driven interventionism' may sound like a catch phrase but it is not. There are two destroyers of civilization that have been identified in the divine economy theory and they are: ego-driven intervention and ego-driven interpretation.

I do not think that it is necessary for a person to know anything about the divine economy theory to recognize the meaning behind these two (new) terms.

And a second point of clarification: It is easy to misunderstand the meaning of the divine economy theory if you don't know what it is. If a person recognized that humans have a physical body like an animal but did not want to acknowledge the intellectual distinction then there would be a significant limitation to any scientific pursuit by that individual. It follows then that denying that the human spirit is a part of the human reality also puts limits on scientific discovery.

The divine economy theory is purely scientific even if such a thing does not seem possible to those who have preconceived thoughts about what 'divine' means. Unless the subjectivist methodology is incorrect, it is not correct to think that the divine economy theory is not scientific.

The Great Creative Mindset - Harmony Of Science And Religion.

Salamanca Conference Commemorates Classical Liberalism.

Some of the early classical liberals regarded theology as the queen of the sciences. It was its deductive structure that paralleled the other scientific endeavors common among these early great thinkers. This was before the great dividing which separated science and religion for hundreds of years.

Now, as products of this diaspora, we struggle to make sense of anything that reconnects science and religion.

To those who are searching for classical liberalism to extend to the present times and to the future with complete harmony between religion and economic science I suggest investigating the divine economy theory. The roots of Salamanca are still sending up sprouts!

It Is Deduction That Validates Both Science And Religion.

What could be more empirically true or more logically true than the appearance of Manifestations of God throughout the history of humankind and the resulting advancement of civilization either directly or indirectly attributable to the knowledge that They impart?

To selectively ignore this (even if it is because of the good reason of how religion has been corrupted over the years by the ego-driven interpreters) puts such a perspective into the precarious category of a half-truth.

Science is merely another powerful tool to be used to discover. But remember - the tool of science can easily be corrupted, take economic empiricism for example. In that form it is nothing but superstition (for example, Keynesianism). Or take for example environmentalism as it is twisted into various political schemes. Science is a powerful tool, but it too can be and has been corrupted. Yet those who are perceptive can discern and pursue the beauty and purity of science and thereby advance civilization.

Religion is likewise a powerful tool that has the same weaknesses as science. It can be and has been corrupted. But like science it has a beauty and purity - that can and has lead to the advancement of civilization.

To claim that one (in other words, only science or only religion) is the only true way is a blemish on the heart and mind of a seeker after truth. If that blemish is treated with atheism it will worsen.

Atheists And Ego-Driven Interpreters Bring About Oppression.

Property rights are human rights! As we can see, liberty does have limits. Violation of property rights by someone who says that they should have the liberty to do whatever they want is not anarchy but criminal.

At some point ethics enters into the picture and then all of the sudden we are either on our own and victims of ego-driven interpreters or we resign ourselves to what has been given by those who are recognized as selfless Lawgivers informing us about the Will of God.

The ego-driven interpreters are ego-driven: which means that they will ultimately seek the power to coercively subject others to their will. Contrast that to voluntary resignation to the ethics provided by the selfless Lawgivers.

The atheists, by denying the divine authority of the selfless Lawgivers, empower the ego-driven interpreters and therefore are part of the problem rather than part of the solution.

Atheism is spiritual laziness. Instead of doing the hard work of searching, and then searching some more and continually striving and searching, they simply cast aside the universal truths that have nurtured humankind from the beginning of recorded history. But that laziness comes at a cost! It empowers the ego-driven interpreters to find ways to accumulate power which is then used to oppress others.

Moral Authority Does Not Reside With The Ego-Driven.

Ego-Driven Interventionists And Their Lord Are Deaf!

Why are these real concerns about the economy and the lack of ethics falling upon deaf ears?

When the ego is raging it is in total control of the poor souls afflicted by this 'devil.' The ego-driven interventionists whisper into the ears of the ambitious and ego-driven politicians and all the while this circle of ego addicts is being nurtured by the unConstitutional coup as if it is their personal den of vipers.

Totally consumed with their ego (no decency is left) they can only look outwardly with interventionist intentions as their souls shrivel. No cries of suffering from their injustices can reach their ears and so they become more and more tyrannical.

Humans can become lower than animals - more vicious and more deliberately cruel - when the ego destroys the true human spirit. If these diseased ones reject their cure (classical liberalism) then they will need to be surgically removed.

Cut out the cancer at its source - the members of the inner circle of the unConstitutional coup.

Law And Economics Have An Infinite Nature.

Laws in this age of moral relativity are relative! Because the source of law has been usurped and taken control of by the ego-driven interpreters and the ego-driven interventionists there is no justice, but rather relative law rendered by the corrupt 'giver' of the law.

Can there be any doubt that the ego-driven interpreters are just as clueless and incompetent before the true infinite law as are the ego-driven interventionists before the infinite nature of the economy?

Getting rid of the unConstitutional coup will begin the transition back to a Constitutional Republic and will begin to restore the true destiny of America which is to be an exemplary classical liberalism society for others to emulate.

Usurped Moral Authority.

The two great forces in human life have the same affliction. Both economics and religion are in a quagmire of usurped moral authority!

It is the same evil behind the usurpation of both economics and religion. The motivating impulse behind this usurpation is the manifestation of the ego, not the good type of ego associated with knowledge of oneself, but rather its alter-ego which takes form as an ego-driven interventionist or as an ego-driven interpreter.

Neither of these are good. Both are satanic in nature and are the cause of human strife and degradation.

There is moral authority but it does not reside in any of the man-made institutions. In economics the moral authority resides in the subjectivism of human action and the inherent search for truth that defines the human being. The force of equilibrium is not man-made. Human civilization fulfillment comes from a free market economy and the naturally virtuous nature of humans when they live in a state of liberty and justice.

In religion moral authority comes from the Covenant of God which has been lost to the minds of men precisely because of the interpretation by those who have usurped moral authority. But again what comes to the rescue is the inherent nature of humans to search after truth. The Covenant of God exists and it is in tact and full of divine power and it is readily discoverable.

For the independent investigation of truth to regain its function - to purge away errors - the destructiveness of intervention and interpretation must become common knowledge. Those who are ego-driven need to be exposed as charlatans since, in reality, they have no moral authority.

Once freed from these horrible afflictions economics and religion will harmoniously bring about peace, prosperity, liberty, unity and justice. It is our moral duty to remove the false pretenses of the ego-driven.

Economics and Religion Means More Than Laissez-Faire.

Now there is a book, MORE THAN LAISSEZ-FAIRE, that shines on the horizon of economics and shines on the horizon of religion. That does not mean that there are two suns, nor does it mean that the horizons are different.

What it means is that the rays from the sun are life-giving and indistinguishable. No one in their right mind, no one who has a scientific understanding, tries to separate one ray of the Sun’s light from another so that the other ray can be denied and labeled as irrelevant! This is why atheism has no place in economics. It is an attack on the one reality, often done in the guise of ‘science’ but no more is that possible in the science of economics.

Economics And Religion Have The Same Enemy.

Since economics and religion are always addressed (superficially) during elections the enemy raises its head for all to see during the campaigns. The enemy is always present but it is easier to detect during the election cycle. Why? The power lusted for by the pawns of the enemy stirs the ambitions of the ego-driven.

In economics the enemy is the frail and feeble-minded interventionist. Compared to the omnipresent and omnipotent market process the desire to arbitrarily control minutiae within tiny fractions of small segments of the economy using static data is ridiculously petty. This nearly infinite difference between the incomprehensibe market process and blatantly finite and restrictive interventionism, though, serves to entice the ego-driven interventionist even more. It is a lust for power.

In religion the enemy represents those who think that they can interpret the Word of God, that is, all of the individuals who have weak enough souls to convince themselves that they can interpret the Word of God. In contrast to the infinite, regenerative, and life-giving potential of the Word of God; the world suffers from their arbitrary assignment of and confinement to narrow and ethnocentric concepts of what the Word of God means. These ego-driven interpreters want to make the world to be like their vision of the world, a vision that is selfish and flawed. They lust for the power to force their beliefs on others.

The liberty of classical liberalism is a strong deterent to the ego-driven. In liberty all intervention into the economy is shunned.

The independent investigation of truth and recognition of the importance of ethics are features within classical liberalism and this freedom nullifies the erroneous claims of the ego-driven interpreters.

One description fits for both versions of the enemy: both are ego-driven. Too many of the ones seeking our votes have the motives of the enemy.

Humility and non-intervention and tolerance and respect are characteristics of those who are not ego-driven. Ron Paul is rare among men for possessing the noble traits of a true statesman and he merits any and all votes to be the President of the United States.

The Age-Old Battle: Materialism Versus Tranquility.

In the cycle of the rise and fall of civilization there is a parallel rise and fall of victors. When perception narrows to exclude all meaning except those that are most obvious to the five senses then the dominant perspective is materialism. When the value attributed to all things includes the tangible and the intangible then the dominant perspective is tranquility.

Just like darkness is the absence of light, materialism is the absence of spiritual perception. A civilization dominated by materialism is in the falling portion of the cycle for one main reason. The main reason is because it is out of touch with reality. Under the domination of materialism value is misunderstood and distorted which portends the inevitable downfall. For example, even human life is not properly valued!

During the rise of civilization people are happy because they see the manifold evidences of wealth in all things. Even tests and difficulties are seen as opportunities to learn and as part of the process of perfection. This attitude of tranquility manifests itself in society as tranquility and peace and one of the main features of this rising civilization is cooperation.

It so happens that the age-old battle is being fought fiercely right now. In this modern age of economics the instigators of materialism are the ego-driven interventionists. Their narrow perception is what drives them to try to enrich themselves and their minions and to lust after power over others.

I am one of the champions of the other side of that battle. Ron Paul is another champion of the battle against materialism. His armament is the the U.S. Constitution and the intent of the Founders along with his understanding of classical liberalism. My chief weapon against the materialism of the interventionists is the divine economy theory which scientifically proves that there is no moral authority for any human intervention into the economy. Without that source of corruption society will recover, as unoppressed people regain their spiritual perception.

Economics and Religion Resusitated By A Standard!

I ended the last blog entry with the following words: 'Those with these reins in their hands will soon be knocked off their horses.' This refers to the ego-driven interventionists/interpreters who have been leading the way on the horses of false authority, leading the way to nihilism.

Again we see that economics and religion unfold in a parallel fashion.

In parallel, the shared remarkable feature is a standard. Opposition to the existence of a standard is expectedly intense since I am not talking about a relative standard but rather an absolute standard. For the longest time the interventionists and interpreters have claimed themselves to be the representatives of the standard and then they used power to oppress and to enforce their relative standard. None of these ego-driven standards were true standards and so now when confronted with an absolute standard those in control will tremble with rage and then fear and then with weakness and irrelevance.

What is also remarkable is the existence of one absolute standard for economics and another absolute standard for religion, in parallel but not the same! The only way to explain this is by recognizing that we are now living in a very special time in history. In economics it has sometimes been referred to as a time of liberty and justice and a free market, and in religion it is a time referred to as the Promised Day. These are different perspectives and descriptions of a similar ideal.

It is an ideal but it is real also. This real ideal is in the process of 'unfolding' or 'emerging.' And the inevitability of its emergence is because of the 'standard.'

Economics And Religion Eroded By The Ego-Driven.

There are two very similar actions and there are two very similar actors in these two powerful aspects of life. The two actions are intervention and interpretation. The two actors are interventionists and unauthorized interpreters.

The reason for the parallel 'fate' of economics and religion is because of the intercession of persons who can most accurately be labeled as ego-driven. What I mean by 'fate' is the impression that humanity has acquired over time, the impression that both economics and religion are necessary evils!

The key to understanding the action taken (intervention/interpretation) is to look at the psyche of the actors. The ego-driven actor fools himself or herself into thinking that he is capable of understanding the infinitely dynamic, give-and-take, economy and assumes that his arbitrary tinkering will somehow be an act of justice. The ego-driven interpreter deludes himself or herself into thinking that he comprehends the mysteries of the ever-living, transforming, Word of God and assumes that he can interpose himself between the Incomprehensible God and His infinitely complex human creatures.

Now compound the absurdity of the assumptions of the ego-driven with actions that distort the economy and/or the religion of God. What you get is what we have - skepticism, cynicism, and worst of all, reliance on these self-proclaimed experts for guidance.

Economic intervention and unauthorized interpretation of the Word of God are similar enough to put them side by side for examination. Seeing them side by side helps to identify the source of error and it serves as a means to educate. Those with these reins in their hands will soon be knocked off their horses.

An Economic and Religious Problem: Subjectivism Not Comprehended.

When we examine economics and religion we see turmoil because of the lack, historically, of the ability to comprehend subjectivism. This was caused by a lack of appreciation of how human thought and human action originate.

Individuals count; they matter. Relevance depends on whether 'it' - whatever it is - matters to an individual. It - whatever it is - is subjective since it pertains specifically to that specific individual. Inseparable is the relevance of whatever it is and the individual making the assessment. Subjectivism cannot be removed from human thought and action.

Economics failed when subjectivism was removed, replaced by positivism.

Religion went awry when traditions took precedence over the right of spiritual perception.

Once subjectivism - as a scientific method in economics and as a prerequisite for independednt investigation of truth in religion - is given its rightful place, both economics and religion will advance and advance side by side.

Economics And Religion Blog Launches!

The reason I decided to begin a blog that honored both economics and religion is because they are both vital and yet they are both beset with fallacious doctrines.

Not coincidentally there are numerous parallels between economics and religion. Most of the time I will point out the parallels. Sometimes the similarities will describe the black curtain of ignorance that has been draped over them. Other times the commonalities will be likened to platters filled with the promise of bounty and glory.

This blog will provide me with an avenue to express certain concepts that are not readily integrated into my other blogs: divine economy consulting, divine microeconomy consulting, divine economy ethics.
